Accounting Jobs in the Criminal Justice Field

The first step to becoming an accountant is to earn a degree in accounting. There are many associate (2-year) and bachelor (4-year) accounting degree programs to choose from. We have put together some of the most well known and respected accounting schools in the country, so that you can easily request information about their programs. In reality, accountants play a significant role in solving and preventing crimes in all fields of law enforcement and criminal justice. The FBI, IRS/Treasury Department hire accountants. Most people think of special agent jobs with these organizations, however, with financial crimes being so prevalent, accountants are now an integral part of solving cases at these agencies. The FBI actually has a Special Entry program for individuals with a 4-year degree in accounting and for those in possession of their CPA credential.
