El Paso Police Officer Job Description/Duties
The El Paso Sworn officer force is over 1,100 strong. El Paso police officers enforce the City of El Paso's laws and ordinances, perform crime prevention duties, maintain a presence in their assigned geography protecting property and citizens, investigate crimes, and related duties. El Paso police officers are some of the best in the country, evidenced by the City's ranking as the 2nd safest large city in the United States.

The El Paso Police require applicants to be 21 years old or 18 years old with the equivalent of an associate's degree/60 college semester credit hours and a U.S. citizen. Education requirements include possession of a GED or equivalent, at least 12 college credit hours or honorably discharged from the US Armed Forces after serving at least two years an additional year of work experience with public interaction is also required, having a valid Class "C" driver's license, no "class A" misdemeanors or felonies, and no "b class" misdemeanor convictions in last 10 years. Trainees will also need to have a Basic Peace Officer License. In addition, applicants must consent to and to pass an intense background check and rigorous physical testing.

The El Paso Texas Police Department pays new recruits (in Academy) $15.19 per hour, Police Officer between $34,092.24 and $39465.92 yearly. After the first year with the El Paso PD salaries increase each year at a consistent rate.
