How to Become an Accountant with the FBI

There are two fields of accounting jobs within the FBI. One area is as a Special Agent specialized in accounting, where your responsibilities would include investigating financial crimes. The other FBI accounting job would be as an in-house accountant for the FBI where your responsibilities would include conducting general accounting services similar to those expected from an accountant employed in a large business or corporation. Becoming eligible for an Special Agent FBI Accountant job requires that applicants be a certified public accountant (CPA) or possess a bachelor's degree in accounting with at least two years of work experience in a private firm or the public sector. At least a year of this work should be in a management or team leader position. An FBI accountant working in-house will perform general accounting work such as auditing, analyzing and verifying fiscal records, preparing financial and statistical reports, prepares audit reports and schedules and other related duties. To qualify for an FBI accountant job, you will need a bachelor degree in accounting or in a related business field and will need to have taken 24 semester hours in accounting courses.
