Peace Officer is an all encompassing term for police officers, constables, correction officers, probation officers, parole officers, sheriffs, marshals and deputies. Peace officers within a given jurisdiction, in most cases, have an equal authority.
Becoming a peace officer with a law enforcement agency will require different qualifications based on the state you live in.
