Game Warden Schools

We have not found any schools that are designated as game warden schools. We have found that many game wardens hold degrees in Criminal Justice, Biology and Environmental Sciences. Each state has a game warden or conservation enforcement officer related position and the requirements for employment vary by state. If you are interested in a career as a game warden there are steps you can take to prepare yourself in high school and college.

In high school study and work hard to earn good grades. Contact your local department of wildlife and learn as much about the career as possible and what type of internships or volunteer programs they have available. Read the article How to Become a Game Warden. It is not a requirement for anyone to be an advanced hunter or fisherman/woman, but it can help to have experience in these areas. Becoming a game warden is a competitive process and any work experience you gain in the field can help. Some states require their game wardens to be 21 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent, and some departments want to see a college education.

The majority of game wardens and conservation enforcement officers hold degrees in criminal justice, biology or a wildlife related program. Some departments require an associate degree and others may require a bachelor degree.
