Orlando Police Officer Minimum Qualifications

U.S. Citizen, 21 years old, have a GED or high school diploma, candidates with a two or four year college degree are preferred, valid driver's license (in possession for 1 year), good physical condition, vision correctable to 20/20, can not display tattoos while in uniform, good moral character, no convictions of felonies, no moral or perjury misdemeaner convictions, pass the civil service hiring standards, meet the Orlando Police standards and pass their hiring process, must reside in 30 minute radius to the Orlando Police Headquarters or be able to drive there in 45 minutes.

Orlando Police Officer Salary

After graduation from the police academy, starting Orlando Police Officers earn $39,173 annually. Orlando Police Officers can earn more with additional pay and bonuses including, relocation pay, patrol division, shift differential, education incentives (2-year degree= $360, 4-year degree= $960), tenure pay, tuition reimbursement while working, overtime pay, holiday pay and full benefits. If selected to attend the academy, the pay is $15.07 an hour. Uniform and tuition are paid by the Orlando police department.

Orlando Police Department Career opportunities

Academy graduates go through a 22 week field training and then a probationary period. Once completed, an officer is eligible to post for specialty positions within the department such as vice, training, SWAT, K-9 and many more.
