Opportunities for paralegals or legal assistants today are abundant. As a whole, the paralegal profession is growing. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, those paralegals with experience and formal education are thought to have the best chances for job placement in what is becoming a very competitive market.
Within the paralegal profession there are a number of different areas of specialization to consider. If you are employed by a smaller firm, it is likely that you will practice in a variety of areas depending upon the needs of the firms clients. If you are employed by a larger firm however, it is likely that as a paralegal you will specialize in one or two areas of practice.
